Gearing up for Practicum: group session

Teacher Education and the Education Library are offering resource & planning sessions for teacher candidates in the BEd program beginning Jan. 4th, 2021 until March 2021. Monday sessions are part ‘workshop’ and part group/small group sharing and discussion.

  • Monday afternoon sessions* are an opportunity for small group discussion and possible ‘workshopping’ or open discussion of your ideas, Unit and Lesson plans with a small group of peers.
  • We’ll start with a brief 10 to 15 minute presentation by the Ed Library or other guests related to resource-seeking and planning followed by group discussion and, when needed, break out rooms.
  • RSVP is required.
  • Sessions are limited to MAX of 30 participants and will take place via Zoom (link will be sent upon registration)

    Facilitated by Yvonne Dawydiak, Learning Design Manager & experienced classroom teacher along with Emily Fornwald, Education Librarian and BEd graduate with additional support from the Education Library and Virtual Peer Mentors.

    Proposed Session Topics:
    Mon. Jan. 4th and 11th – Where do I start? Planning & Resource Seeking (tips & tricks to avoid the rabbit hole!)
    Mon. Jan. 18th and 25th – Formative Assessment – checking for understanding as part of lesson and unit planning
    Mon. Feb. 1st 4 – 5pm is an MS Teams Webinar (I will host Gearing up at 5pm to discuss online teaching and any other Q’s that arise)
    Mon. Feb 8th – 4 – 4:30pm Online Teaching 4:30pm Panel discussion with Secondary Teachers sharing their experiences teaching online, remote hybrid (RSVP required)

    *Tuesday and Wednesday sessions will be limited to 4 participants per session and are more an opportunity for one on one or, at most, two to one consults with Emily Fornwald, Education Librarians and Yvonne Dawydiak, Learning Design Manager TEO
