Gearing up for Practicum – consults

Teacher Education and the Education Library are offering resource & planning support for teacher candidates in the BEd program beginning Jan. 4th, 2021 until March 2021.

Facilitated by Yvonne Dawydiak, Learning Design Manager & experienced classroom teacher along with Emily Fornwald, Education Librarian and BEd graduate with additional support from the Education Library and our Virtual Peer Mentors, “Gearing up for Practicum” are one on one and small group consults that will take place via Zoom.

  • RSVP is required.
  • You will RSVP for a 40 min time slot.
  • Both Emily and Yvonne will be waiting for you in our Zoom room when you arrive.
  • A maximum of 4 participants will also be able to RSVP for each 40 minute time period. During that time, we’ll split into break out rooms for consults. Each participant will have the opportunity to work with both Emily and Yvonne during the 40 minute period. A follow-up email with some resources will be provided after the session.
  • When you RSVP, you’ll tell us a little about your planning needs and where you’re at in the planning process so we can prepare a bit before we meet. Please initially limit your RSVP to one session. We can find alternative ways to connect if you’re in need of additional time.
  • Have any draft plans or prelim ideas ‘with you’ when we meet.

RSVP
NB: Early January spots are intended more for Secondary TCs who will be heading off on practicum in mid-Feb but anyone is welcome to sign up.
*If you try to RSVP and can’t find a time slot that meets your needs/schedule, please email: scarfe.sandbox@ubc.ca with a few suggested dates/times.

You may also find the resources on the ‘Designing Learning Blog’ of value as you prepare for practicum.
