Creating Explainer Videos

Screencasting, screen captures, tutorials, and flipped classrooms…. all require explainer videos!

In preparation for your LLED 361 Literacy Assignment, let’s get hands-on with rich media creation.

Did you know all UBC Students can receive a free copy of the Camtasia software? Grab your lunch and come learn how to use it or other similar programs to create screen captures, screencasts, and other types of videos that can be used for your teaching practice!

Videos create accessibility for those who need to slow down, pause, listen carefully with the option of closed captions, and view at their own pace. The videos you create can be shared in the classroom as part of your lesson and then uploaded somewhere, like a class website, for your students to reference later. You can also make your own tutorial videos to explain a task which saves you from repeating instructions.

We will also share some resources on where you can get open-sourced photographs and videos that can be used in presentations to avoid copyright infringement.
